Modern against London

32 votes

I play G6 against the Queen's pawn so many players go for the London System, even at 1400 rapid. The course on the Modern provides a good and straight-forward response to the London with a quick E5 push. However, in my experience no player go for 5. h3. Far more common is 5. cxd5, which Stockfish just thinks is good after the normal London setup. Is it possible to add some variations where white does not go for 5. h3, and instead 5. dxc5 and some follow up after that?
